Is it possible to get internet service to your laptop even if you don’t own a phone?(cell, nor landline)?

Here’s the deal.Im 26,strong white male, however,I recently hurt my arm and had to lose my job and have surgery.Im single and have been living off of my savings, food stamps and occaisional free meals at local church during the last 3 month’s of recovrey and phys. therapy.
Now I must go back to work whether,or not my doctor recomends it because I’m out of savings and am being evicted from my studio for failure to make the last 2 months rent.
My question is can I get internet service on my laptop,so that I would be able to plug it in whenever Im at the shelter,or visiting my friend’s house, and be able to search the web for jobs/send and recieve e-mail/resume to prospective employers?
Keep in mind I have no cell or landline phone so my e-mail would serve as main communication, but also Icannot use “dial up” i.s.p for the above mentioned lack of phone.
To answer # 2 ..No,Im not seeking “free” internet service..Its not that simple.I’am seeking to attain internet service for my laptop,in abscence of my having 1)a credit card.2)phone and 3)soon to be (for the most part) homeless.I’am capable to scunge up some money as necessities are eventual.
Tell me general public..is it absolutely necessary for one to own,or possess a phone inorder for one to achieve a viable internet service on his/her laptop?

you should invest in a wi fi card. most cities have some free wifi hotspots available where you would be able to get internet access without a telephone or cell line.

I guess you are seeking free wireless Internet. See if you can get your hands on a wi-fi card, or 802.11 B or G card that will fit in to your laptops PC card slot. (Hopefully it has one.) Or, get a hold of a USB wireless 802.11 device. The goal is to look for a location that has an open access point. Some libraries or school capuses may have one. Some smaller coffee shops as well. Keep in mind that, depending on your community, locating a free access wifi might be a chore. I would try a public library first. There are other resources there as well that can assist you in your job hunting. Good luck.
